Indian Premier League (IPL) to begin on March 21: Reports

As per reports, the 18th season of the blockbuster Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on March 21, with the opening match scheduled to be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The final is scheduled to be played at the same venue on May 25. Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to be played from March 14 to May 25, but the change in dates, according to reports, is due to Champions Trophy final, which is to be played on March 9. With this, there will a two-week hiatus between the events. 

The first two qualifiers will be held in Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Eden Gardens will also host the Qualifier 2. The complete IPL schedule is expected to be released in the coming days. The IPL 2025 season will have 74 games similar to the last three seasons. 

Meanwhile, the IPL 2025 mega auction was held in Jeddah last year in November, where a total of 182 players were sold. Rishabh Pant emerged as the most expensive purchase in IPL history after being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore.
