Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is in doubt for the upcoming Super Four clash against Pakistan on Sunday, following a concerning head injury sustained during India's Group A match against Oman in the ongoing Asia Cup in UAE.

The incident occurred in the 15th over of Oman's chase when Patel, stationed at mid-off, sprinted to intercept a towering skier from Hammad Mirza. In his attempt to take the catch, Patel misjudged the trajectory slightly, juggled the ball, and ultimately put down the chance. While trying to regain his balance, he fell awkwardly and struck his head against the turf.

He was immediately attended to by the team’s medical staff. He was seen clutching his head as he was helped off the field by the team physio, sparking concerns about his fitness for the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash. Later, Axar did not return for the remainder of the innings. Earlier, he had slammed 26 off 13 balls at No. 5, helping India with his handy cameo. Meanwhile, providing an update on Axar after India's victory over Oman, India’s fielding coach T. Dilip said that Axar was doing fine.

Axar's presence is vital for India, especially given his versatility with both bat and ball. He has been a key figure in the team’s middle order and has contributed consistently with the ball.
