Virat Kohli shares cryptic post ahead of first ODI against Australia

The Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has shared a cryptic post just days ahead of India's first ODI against Australia on October 19 in Perth. Virat Kohli, who made his last appearance for India at the Champions Trophy earlier this year, will don the Indian colours once again, looking to strengthen his case for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The legendary cricketer has already called time on his international career in Tests and T20Is, keeping his presence only limited to ODIs.
"The only time you truly fail, is when you decide to give up," he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Virat Kohli was magnificent at the Champions Trophy, starring with 218 runs in five matches, including a century against arch-rivals Pakistan. He also slammed a splendid 84 against Australia in the semifinals. In ODIs, he has 14,181 runs in 302 matches and 290 innings, averaging 57.9 and having a strike rate of over 93. Kohli boasts 51 centuries and 74 fifties in ODIs.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has been named India's new ODI captain, replacing Rohit Sharma, who was at the helm during India's triumphant Champions Trophy campaign. Veteran Rohit Sharma is also part of India's squad for the ODI series against Australia. The series is highly crucial in shaping the roadmap to the 2027 ODI World Cup.
