Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant looks primed to return to India's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa that is slated to start on November 14 with the first game in Kolkata, according to ESPNcricinfo. He will come in for N Jagadeesan in the Test squad. Pant fractured his foot during the fourth Test match against England in Manchester in July, ruling him out of the subsequent assignments. He missed the home Test series against West Indies and a white-ball tour of Australia as he was recovering from a foot fracture.

Pant, however, proved his match fitness by captaining the India A side to victory in their first four-day game against South Africa A at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru last week. He scored a scintillating 90-run knock in the second innings as India A overhauled a target of 275. India's other key players, like captain Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, who are currently playing the T20I series in Australia, will link up with the Test squad after the five-match series concludes on November 8.

Notably, India recently released Kuldeep Yadav from the T20I squad in order to allow him to fine-tune his bowling performance ahead of the crucial Test series against South Africa. Kuleep Yadav will play the second India A four-day game against South Africa A, starting on November 6.
