Labuschagne on his World Cup chances

It was a massive innings from Australia’s vigorous batter Marnus Labuschagne who have shown his incredible class in the last two matches of the ongoing five-match ODI series against South Africa. In the first match against South Africa, Labuschagne had come in to bat as substitute for Cameron Green. Coming in as substitute, Labuschagne capitalised on the opportunity as he had scored 80-run knock to take Australia to victory. In the second match, Labuschagne brought up his century as he scored (124) runs to again help Australia register victory. Labuschagne, however, has not been picked in Australia’s ODI World Cup squad which was a major blow for him.
Labuschagne’s terrific outings in the ongoing series are being seen as a massive chance for him to be brought into Australia’s Word Cup squad because Labuschagne’s shot selection against the strong bowling attack led by South African bowlers was incredible. Speaking on his omission from the Australia’s World Cup squad, Labuschagne noted that it is not in his control.
“Most of them are family. It is always nice, a bit of added pleasure. It is nice to be scoring some runs in front of friends and family. I still think I left a few runs out there, thought I could have opened up and taken us to 430. But as the game does, it leaves you wanting more. You have got to be content. I was happy with how we got about it. We got to a great start with the bat and put pressure on them straight away. WC spot is one of those things that is not in my control at all. My thing is just enjoying playing cricket,” Marnus Labuschagne said during the post-match interview.
“Like I said to Shamsi, ‘If I go home, I get to see my daughter; if I go to the World Cup, I will get to play a World Cup for Australia,’ so my job is to keep well,” stated Labuschagne.
