Australia thrashed Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test match by (79) runs on Friday at the MCG to win the three-match series 2-0 as Pat Cummins shone with the (10) wickets across both innings. Pat Cummins remained the top performer for Australia in both the innings with his five-wicket haul in each.  There was a period when the victory for Pakistan seemed evident, but Pat Cummins put the cap on Pakistan’s growing chances of winning the match. Pakistan were going strong with their score of (216) for five at one period, but it didn’t take seconds for their innings to come to an end for (237).

Pakistan’s innings took the different turn when Pat Cummins removed established Shan Masood who was out after scoring (60) runs. Pakistan failed to fathom the raging bowling attack from Australia that ran through Pakistan’s batting line up with unplayable deliveries. Chasing the target of (317), Pakistan were bowled out for (237) with their top-notch players failing to keep the team on top. Shan Masood and Salman Ali Agha remained the top scorers for Pakistan with their scores of (60) and (50) respectively.

Australia’s relentless efforts with the bowl were on full display that paid the fruitful results to the team in their victory. Looking at the match summary, Pakistan had put Australia to bat after winning the toss, where Australia scored (318) in their first innings with Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne leading from the front with their scores of (42) and (63) respectively.
