Making their way into the final of the U19 World Cup, Australia U19 cricket team defeated Pakistan U19 team by one wicket on Thursday at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. Australia showcased brilliant consistency, securing their place in the final of the tournament to face already qualified India.

In their pursuit of 180, Australia got off to a brisk start with Harry Dixon scoring his half-century, laying a solid foundation for teams' victory. However, they encountered disturbing setbacks, losing their four wickets at regular intervals to the disciplined spell led by Ali Raza claiming four wickets. However, The Australian batter Oliver Peake, displaying exceptional composure, overcame Pakistan’s bowling attack with his 49-run score. With the help of tiny cameos down the order, Australia went past the target in 49.1 overs to register their victory.

Earlier, asked to bat, Pakistan maintained a steady start with Azan Awais and Arafat Minhas slamming their half-centuries to set a modest total of 179 for Australia. These two batters were the top-scorer for Pakistan, providing the much needed stability to the team that they needed after losing their excellent players early on in the innings.

Australian bowler Tom Straker set the challenging conditions for Pakistan applying relentless pressure, restricting Pakistan to a below par total. He returned with six pivotal wickets, crippling Pakistan squarely. Australia will now meet India in the final on Sunday at the same venue.
