Soggy start to England’s campaign as their opener against Scotland gets washed out

Defending champions England were prepared to commence their campaign in the ongoing T20I World Cup, but it suffered a setback after their opening game against Scotland was washed out due to relentless rain. Only 10 overs were played, with Scotland putting up (90) after deciding to bat. Openers Michael Jones (45*) and George Munsey (41*) stitched an unbroken 90-run partnership.
However, persistent rainfall didn’t allow England’s innings to get underway making sure the encounter was washed out. It came as a disappointing start for England who were aiming to get off to a rollicking start.
For England, who clinched the T20I World Cup title with a stellar performance in the previous edition, this was not the start they envisioned. Nonetheless, England would gear up to set the tone for their title defense in the next match that is on Saturday against formidable Australia. Scotland, on the other hand, would be very happy with the way they started as their batting against England’s challenging bowling attack was superb.
