England’s stand-in Test skipper Ollie Pope has signed with the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 2024 season. Ollie Pope, who is captaining England in the ongoing three-match Test series against Sri Lanka, will be a huge boost for Adelaide Strikers in their top-order batting.

Ollie Pope stepped in to lead the side after England’s regular Test skipper Ben Stokes was ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury picked up while playing in The Hundred competition. As for Pope, he has been one of the regular performers for England in the top-order and has established himself as a reliable player.

Pope will be making himself available for Strikers after England’s three-match Test series against New Zealand in December. At Adelaide Strikers, Pope will join the likes of Chris Lynn, Matt Short, D'Arcy Short and Jake Weatherald. Pope will be missing Strikers’ opening game due to New Zealand Tests.

"Ollie Pope is an exceptional talent with a proven track record at the highest level. His dynamic batting style and wicket-keeping abilities are a fantastic addition to our squad. We're thrilled to have him on board and believe he will be a key player for us this season. His experience and leadership will undoubtedly elevate our team," Strikers' coach Tim Paine said.
