"He'll push through": Alex Carey on Mitchell Starc ahead of fifth India Test

In a positive news for Australia ahead of the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, wicketkeeper Alex Carey has said that Mitchell Starc will be fit for the upcoming Sydney Test. Starc felt discomfort during the fourth Test of the ongoing series, raising concerns over his availability for the fifth match. However, Carey assured that Starc is recovering well and is expected to take part in the crucial final Test.
Mitchell Starc had experienced discomfort during Australia's thrilling victory in the fourth Test, a match that saw Australia clinch a 2-1 lead in the series. He was sent for scans on Wednesday as his fitness setback raised doubts about his participation in the final Test. Starc is a key figure for Australia in their bolwing attack as he has played a critical role in the absence of injured Josh Hazlewood.
"He'll be fine. He'll push through. I've played with Starcy for a long time now, and one of the toughest cricketers I've played with. He'll grimace, he'll grab his rib no doubt, but he'll be ready for the contest," Carey said while speaking to reporters.
Starc led a searing attack in the fourth Test, showing utmost consistency. He was wicketless in the first innings but claimed the wicket of Virat Kohli in the second innings.
"I thought first spell without the reward was some of the best bowling I've seen this series from him. He's a quality player and has been for a long time. He's got an opportunity now to help this team in a Test match. He'll be up for the contest, and I think his bowling's just gotten better throughout the series," Carey said.
