Former Indian player Aakash Chopra has showered praise on India's rising star Tilak Varma, calling him a "superstar in the making" after his stellar performance in India’s second T20I against England. Varma's composed 72 off 55 balls played a pivotal role in India's dominant victory, showcasing his potential as a dependable middle-order batter.

"Tilak Varma, the superstar. We sometimes call someone a superstar very early. We also call someone a great or a legend very early these days. I am not saying that he is already a superstar but he is on the way," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"He went till the end and didn't throw away his wicket. 18 runs were required, eight wickets had fallen, and he had already hit five sixes, so he could have tried to hit three more sixes. However, he said he would go deep. The match was at Chepauk, it's Dhoni's home, so the guy should go deep while chasing," he added.

Chasing a competitive total of 165, India needed a steady innings after losing early wickets. Tilak Varma rose to the occasion, anchoring the innings with his calm knock to take India over the line. Since being promoted to the No.3 position during the South Africa series last year in November, Varma has been impressive, playing fearless innings.
