Shreyas Iyer withdraws from India A squad just ahead of the match

India A team has undergone a major leadership change just before the start of the second first-class clash against Australia A. Shreyas Iyer, who was leading the side, stepped down from the captaincy hours before the match. Meanwhile, the management has named Dhruv Jurel as the new captain for the second game, scheduled to begin on Tuesday in Lucknow. While there has been no official explanation regarding the reason for his sudden departure from the leadership role, it is believed that Iyer cited personal reasons to the BCCI.
“Yes, Shreyas is taking a break and has returned to Mumbai. He has informed the selectors that he won't be able to play in the second four-day match against Australia A. However, he remains in fray for a spot in the middle-order when the selectors meet to pick the squad for the West Indies series," a source was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The first match between India A and Australia A, which was played in Lucknow too, ended in a draw. Iyer scored 8 and 13 runs, respectively., in the first Test.
