With the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup just round the corner, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur has expressed unwavering confidence in her team's preparations. After experiencing heartbreak in the finals of Asia Cup and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020, India are gearing up to assert their dominance. This will be Harmanpreet's fifth ODI World Cup, and first as captain.

"Representing your country is always very special moment for any player, but leading your country in (an) ODI World Cup is even more special for me. On top of that, home World Cup, even more special. Everything altogether is (a) very exciting and very special moment for me. I just want to go there and enjoy and play my best cricket. That's what I've been telling myself and my team," Harmanpreet said at the captains' meet in Bengaluru.

The 2025 edition of the Women's ODI World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will be an exciting event, as subcontinental conditions are expected to challenge even the best. Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur lauded Smriti Mandhana's impressive performance. She has been outstanding, churning out a series of dashing performances. Recently in the three-match ODI series against Australia, she blasted scores of 125, 117, and 58.

"She has been great. The way she is batting nowadays is something really exciting to watch. When I'm batting with her, things are quite easy on the pitch. You don't need to stress too much because she is always there to help. Having her in my team is a big strength."

India women will kick off their ODI World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on September 30 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.
