Afghanistan have suffered a setback ahead of their upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, as right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Saleem has been ruled out due to a groin (adductor) overload. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed Saleem’s exclusion, and he will report to the ACB's High Performance Center for rehabilitation.

Bilal Sami has been named Saleem's replacement and will join the squad for the ODIs against Bangladesh. The three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin on October 8.

Bilal Sami has featured for Afghanistan only in one ODI, which was against Zimbabwe in December 2024. Meanwhile, he has played 25 List A games, taking 44 wickets at an average of 25.72.
