India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to make his return to red-ball cricket with the upcoming Ranji Trophy, scheduled to begin on October 25. This is an important development in Pant’s recovery following a foot injury sustained during India's tour of England earlier this year. Pant suffered a fractured toe during the Manchester Test against England on July 24.

The injury occurred while he was attempting a reverse sweep and was struck on his right foot. Pant retired hurt immediately, and scans later confirmed a fracture. However, he returned to the crease later in the innings when the Indian team was in a difficult position, playing a gritty 54-run knock.

Now, according to The Times of India, Pant may be cleared by the BCCI’s medical team by October 10, just ahead of the Ranji season.

“As of now, there is a likelihood he could be cleared by October 10. An assessment is due this week. It has been a long recovery for him. The BCCI medical team doesn’t want to take any chances with him,” a BCCI source told TOI.

Notably, Pant was recently left out of India's ODI and T20I squads for the Australia tour due to fitness issues.
