Australia’s young batting all-rounder Cooper Connolly is excited for a great opportunity as he prepares to lock horns with Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the upcoming ODI series on home soil. The highly anticipated series against Australia will mark the return of the legendary Indian duo to the national setup for the first time since the Champions Trophy earlier this year. Connolly, who has been turning heads with his fearless batting and handy spin, sees the series not only as a chance to prove himself but also as an honour.

"It's exciting, they're two world-class players. I've played them both before and there's a bit of aura about them. You just think 'these guys have played a lot of cricket' and they have got that strut about them," Connolly was quoted as saying by 'The West Australia'.

“They own this game, pretty much. I’ve obviously looked up to Virat. He’s a nice player, and it’d be an honour to share the field one last time with him,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the return of Kohli and Rohit has added an extra layer of excitement to the contest. They both have quit the Test and T20I formats, and their presence is only limited to ODIs. Shubman Gill has been named India's ODI captain for the three ODIs in Australia, replacing Rohit Sharma.
