Sri Lanka name young squad for T20Is against India

Sri Lanka have unveiled a refreshed and youthful 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match Women’s T20I series against India, scheduled to begin on December 21, 2025, in Visakhapatnam, before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for concluding fixtures. The most eye-catching inclusion is 17-year-old ambidextrous spinner Shashini Gimhani, whose ability to bowl with both arms will bolster the squad. Seamer Kawya Kavindi and 19-year-old Rashmika Sewwandi have also earned call-ups.

Leading the side is captain Chamari Athapaththu, whose experience will be vital for Sri Lanka. She is supported by several familiar faces, including veteran spinner Inoka Ranaweera. The squad also features top-order regulars such as Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Nilakshika De Silva, and Kavisha Dilhari.
