SA20 season 4: All you need to know, teams, squads, format

The blockbuster fourth edition of the SA20 League is all set to begin on Boxing Day, December 26, 2025. This season runs until January 25, 2026, concluding in a grand final at Newlands, Cape Town. The defending champions heading into Season 4 are MI Cape Town, who won their maiden SA20 title last season with a dominant performance in the final against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. MI Cape Town will launch their title defence in the season opener on December 26 against Durban’s Super Giants at Newlands.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, winners of the first two editions, will aim to reclaim the title after finishing runners-up last season. Season 4 will feature six franchises: MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Durban’s Super Giant, Pretoria Capitals, Joburg Super Kings, and Paarl Royals.
The six teams will play 10 matches each in the league stage, with the top four sides making it to the playoffs. Following which, the first- and second-placed teams will battle for a direct qualification for the final in Qualifier 1, and the third- and fourth-placed teams will feature in the Eliminator. In Qualifier 2, the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the eliminator will clash for the final spot.
