Deepti Sharma creates history, becomes leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma added another record to her growing list of records on Wednesday during the fifth T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram. Deepti produced a magnificent performance, becoming the highest wicket-taker in women’s T20Is, reaching a remarkable milestone of 152 wickets in the format. She accomplished the landmark achievement in her 133rd T20I match.
In the process, Deepti surpassed Australia’s experienced pace bowler Meghan Schutt, who previously held the top spot on the all-time list. Deepti’s accomplishment is historic, as she is the first cricketer, across both men’s and women’s international cricket, to score more than 1,000 runs and take over 150 wickets in the T20I format.
Deepti has also broken new ground by becoming the first woman to claim 150 or more wickets in both ODIs and T20Is. She now has 334 wickets across Tests, ODIs and T20Is, making her the third-highest wicket-taker in women’s international cricket.
