Afghanistan name Richard Pybus as new head coach

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Richard Pybus as the new head coach of the Afghanistan men’s cricket team. Richard Pybus will succeed Jonathan Trott at the helm, who coached Afghanistan for four years.
The decision follows Afghanistan’s group-stage exit from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Pybus brings decades of global exposure to the role. Notably, he was part of Pakistan’s coaching setup during the 1999 Cricket World Cup, where the side finished as semi-finalists.
Over the years, he has worked with multiple international and domestic teams, carrying massive experience. His first assignment as the head coach will be a white-ball series against Sri Lanka, beginning March 13 in the UAE.
