PCB fines Pakistan players following T20 World Cup exit

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has fined every member of Pakistan’s squad from the recently concluded Men's T20 World Cup PKR 5 million each, according to ESPNcricinfo. The sweeping fines come after Pakistan’s elimination at the Super Eight stage, marking the fourth consecutive ICC men’s tournament in which the team has failed to reach the semi-finals.
The fines were not imposed due to disciplinary breaches or off-field controversies. Instead, the PCB has labelled the fines as a direct consequence of poor on-field performance during the tournament. The fine was imposed immediately after Pakistan’s group-stage defeat to arch-rivals India.
In that high-profile clash, Pakistan suffered a comprehensive 61-run loss. Meanwhile, Pakistan endured a disappointing campaign, failing to gather momentum in the Super Eight phase, where inconsistent batting displays derailed their campaign. However, Pakistan ended their campaign with a hard-fought five-run win against Sri Lanka.
