Sunrisers Hyderabad rope in David Payne to replace Jack Edwards for IPL 2026
Sunrisers Hyderabad have made a late adjustment to their squad ahead of the upcoming IPL season, roping in experienced pacer David Payne as a replacement for the injured Jack Edwards. Edwards has been ruled out of IPL 2026 after sustaining a foot injury. He has made a strong presence in T20 leagues across the globe.
With over 230 appearances in the format, he has amassed more than 300 wickets, maintaining an impressive average a little above 21. He also claimed the ILT20 title with the Desert Vipers in January 2026.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, this signing comes at a crucial time. The team is already dealing with the temporary absence of their captain, Pat Cummins, who is recovering from a lumbar stress fracture and is expected to miss the initial phase of the tournament. Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL 2026 campaign on March 28, taking on the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru.
