Gerald Coetzee joins SRH as replacement for David Payne
Sunrisers Hyderabad have roped in South African pace-bowling allrounder Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for England seamer David Payne for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026. Coetzee, who joins the franchise for a fee of INR 2 crore, will be a massive boost to a team that has been dealing with a string of injury setbacks.
He previously represented the Mumbai Indians in the 2024 season, where he made a notable impact by claiming 13 wickets in ten matches. The following year, he turned out for the Gujarat Titans, managing two wickets across four appearances. Coetzee has represented South Africa in 4 Tests, 14 ODIs, and 18 T20Is.
Recently, SRH lost the services of England allrounder Brydon Carse, who was ruled out after suffering a hand injury during a practice session ahead of the season, preventing him from playing a single game. To replace him, SRH had already drafted in Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement. SRH are now gearing for a big match against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
