BCB revokes Mustafizur Rahman's NOC for PSL

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to revoke the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) of Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana, ruling them out of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 season. Both players had earlier joined their respective franchises, Lahore Qalandars for Mustafizur and Peshawar Zalmi for Rana, before being called back for the ODI series against New Zealand.

The duo returned to Bangladesh to participate in the ODI series at home. There were expectations that they might rejoin their PSL teams after fulfilling national commitments, but the board has now taken a firm decision, confirming that neither player will head back to the tournament. Mustafizur’s situation has been complicated in part by fitness concerns.

The left-arm pacer was dealing with a knee issue after his stint in the PSL, which kept him out of the first two ODIs against New Zealand. However, he made a strong comeback in the third match in Chattogram, claiming an impressive five-wicket haul. The board, in a statement, said that Mustafizur will undergo a scan and later begin rehabilitation.

"It has been decided that the player [Mustafizur] will undergo an immediate scan to further assess his condition after which he will commence a rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCB medical team. In this regard, the board has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously issued to Mustafizur. He will therefore not be available to participate in the remainder of PSL 2026," read the statement.

Meanwhile, the BCB’s decision regarding Nahid Rana is a precautionary one. The board has asserted workload management as a key factor. In line with it, Rana, along with Mustafizur and fellow pacer Taskin Ahmed, has been rested for the first two T20Is against New Zealand.
