Tilak Varma inspires MI to stunning win over PBKS
Mumbai Indians romped to a commanding six-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in a high-scoring clash on Thursday at HPCA Stadium. Chasing a big target of 201, Mumbai displayed an excellent all-round show to cross the line in style, with Tilak Varma and Will Jacks steering the chase. Mumbai Indians got off to a good start after Ryan Rickelton scored a fiery 48, while Rohit Sharma contributed 25 at the top.
After their dismissals, Tilak Varma took charge of the innings with a powerful knock of 75 not out. Will Jacks did nice work with a quickfire 25*, helping Mumbai overhaul the target in 19.5 overs.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings posted an impressive total of 200/8 in 20 overs after being asked to bat. Opener Prabhsimran Singh starred with a sparkling 57. He survived two dropped catches during his innings and capitalised to play brilliantly.
Punjab were looking good before Shardul Thakur changed the momentum of the match, sparking a middle-order collapse with a four-wicket spell. However, late cameos from Azmatullah Omarzai (38), Vishnu Vinod (15*), and Xavier Bartlett (18*) helped Punjab recover strongly in the final overs and put out a challenging total.
