Ireland have unveiled their squad for the upcoming Women's T20I World Cup, with Gaby Lewis slated to lead the side in what is set to be her first-ever T20I World Cup as captain. In a big move, Ireland have handed maiden call-ups to Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Aimee Maguire and Lara McBride.

The tournament, scheduled to take place in England and Wales next month, will see Ireland return to the global stage after qualifying earlier this year through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal.

Vice-captain Orla Prendergast will play a crucial role as one of the team’s most dependable all-rounders, while wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter will be expected to provide stability at the top of the order. Bowler Jane Maguire has been ruled out of the World Cup due to an injury, but Aimee Maguire has made her comeback from injury.

Ireland squad: Gaby Lewis (c), Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Ava Canning, Cara Murray, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Georgina Dempsey, Laura Delany, Leah Paul, Louise Little, Orla Prendergast, Rebecca Stokell, Aimee Maguire, Lara McBride
