Gujarat Titans' explosive batter Rahul Tewatia was the lone fighter for the side during their clash against RCB in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, blazing a splendid 68 off 33 balls. However, his fighting knock did not change the outcome of the match, with GT sinking to a 92-run defeat, paving the way for RCB's qualification into the final of IPL 2026. Yet, Tewatia's timely knock helped GT manage to bring up 162 before being folded in 19.3 overs.

Chasing the target of 255, GT got off to an unimaginable start following the quick dismissals of openers Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill, departing for 14 and 2, respectively. With regular blows, GT were reduced to 51-5 in the powerplay that completely snatched the momentum away from them.

That's when Tewatia stood tall to rescue the side from suffering the heaviest defeat in the history of IPL playoffs with a spirited performance. Meanwhile, during his innings Tewatia also shattered MS Dhoni's record for the highest score by any player batting at No. 7 or lower in an IPL playoff match. Earlier, the record was held by MS Dhoni after he scored 63 unbeaten for CSK in the IPL 2013 final against Mumbai Indians.
