BAN vs AUS, 1st ODI: Spectacular Bangladesh stun Australia with historic win
Firing a memorable performance, Bangladesh defeated Australia by 86 runs (DLS) in the first ODI at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Tuesday, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. After being asked to bat, Bangladesh put up an impressive total of 284/8 in 50 overs, registering their fourth-highest ODI score against Australia. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tanzid Hasan made solid contributions, scoring half-centuries.
The biggest highlight, however, was the outstanding knock from Mosaddek Hossain, who made his return to international cricket after nearly four years. Mosaddek played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 86 runs from 70 balls to register the highest ODI score of his career.
Australia, chasing the target, could not settle as they struggled to score freely and managed 191/9 in 42.2 overs before rain interrupted play. After a long wait, umpires decided to call off the match, with Bangladesh clinching a superb win. Meanwhile, the victory was a historic one for Bangladesh as it ended their 21-year wait for another ODI win over Australia. Their previous ODI victory against Australia came back in 2005 in Cardiff.
