Australia reveal full-strength squad as Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon return for Bangladesh Tests
Australia have been boosted by the return of their biggest stars for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, with captain Pat Cummins, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and veteran spinner Nathan Lyon all making their way back to the 13-member squad after recovering from injuries.
The veteran trio missed Australia's most recent Test appearance in Sydney earlier this year, but their return majorly strengthens the side ahead of the matches scheduled to be played in Darwin and Mackay during August.
The return of three experienced campaigners comes at the expense of Michael Neser, who has been unlucky to miss out despite impressing during the Ashes series. Neser featured in three of the five Tests against England, including the final two matches, where he performed impressively with both bat and ball. Todd Murphy and Brendan Doggett also miss out.
“They have worked extremely hard, individually and with the (sports science) teams, over the past few months to return from their respective injuries,” Australia’s chairman of selectors George Bailey said.
“While this is a 13-player squad, we have players prepared and available should any adjustments be required in the lead up to these matches."
“As previously stated, the volume of cricket and schedule across the next 12 months are likely to present further opportunities across all formats for many players.”
