David Warner pleads guilty to drink-driving
Former Australian cricketer and well-known batter David Warner has pleaded guilty to mid-range drink-driving, admitting to the offence that took place on Easter Sunday. Warner, who was pulled over by police on April 5 in Sydney, returned a positive result for alcohol.
He was then taken to Maroubra Police Station for a second test, where he blew 0.104, which turned out to be more than double the legal blood alcohol limit. Warner's lawyer Bobby Hill had earlier said that David Warner would admit the charges when the matter first came to light in May.
âHe knows what he did was wrong. He accepts that was a reckless decision, a foolish decision to get in his car instead of taking an Uber," Hill had said previously.
âItâs not a crime to have a glass of wine on the day of the Lordâs resurrection. In fact, some would consider that completely appropriate."
âHis crime is, as I said, choosing a foolish plan A instead of a plan B.â
Meanwhile, Warner's sentencing is scheduled for August 18. Moreover, the latest development could also threaten Warner's role as captain of Syndey Thunder.
