Jake Weatherald axed from Australia’s squad for 2nd Test against Bangladesh

Australia have named their squad for the second Test against Bangladesh, with Jake Weatherald being dropped for the incredibly consequential showdown. Matthew Renshaw has replaced him in the squad and will open alongside Travis Head. Weatherald remained unimpressive in the first Test, registering scores of 23 and 0 across both innings.
Renshaw featured in 11 Tests for Australia between 2016 and 2018, before being left out of the side. He was recalled once again in 2023, playing three Tests, the last of which came against India. Overall, he has slammed 645 runs at an average of 29.31 with a high-score of 184 against Pakistan. The second Test will begin on August 22 in South Mackay.
