Bangladesh name squad for one-off Afghanistan Test

Bangladesh have named their squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan, with Najmul Hossain Shanto set to lead the side. Tawhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali have made their comeback to the side. Hridoy earned his recall after performing brilliantly for Bangladesh A in South Africa, while Jaker has also been brought back following strong performances at the A-team level.
The squad is packed with experienced names in Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Shadman Islam and Soumya Sarkar. In the spin department, Bangladesh have retained their experienced spin combination of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam.
In the pace attack, Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain and Shoriful Islam will be expected to play their powerful role. Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed has been rested, and Nahid Rana continues his recovery from injury. The one-off Test is scheduled to begin on October 9, 2026, in the United Arab Emirates.
