BCCI quashes speculation about venue change for India vs Sri Lanka ODI in Delhi

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dismissed the speculation that the venue of the opening ODI between India and Sri Lanka could be moved to Ahmedabad. The board confirmed that the match will take place in Delhi as originally scheduled on December 13. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, providing the clarification, said that Delhi remains the designated host for the upcoming encounter, putting an end to rumours that began to swirl amid reports of construction activity at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
"Reports suggesting that the India-Sri Lanka ODI match scheduled in Delhi may be shifted to Ahmedabad are not accurate. There has been no such decision by the BCCI," Saikia said, as quoted by PTI.
"Further, it needs to be reiterated that bilateral matches are primarily allotted by following a standard policy," he stated.
Sri Lanka are scheduled to travel to India to play three ODIs and three T20Is in December. The tour will kick off with the ODI series, beginning on December 13. Later, both teams will face off in a three-match T20I series beginning on December 22.
