Amit Mishra joins Delhi Capitals as spin bowling coach

Delhi Capitals have announced the appointment of former Indian spinner Amit Mishra as their spin bowling coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027. Interestingly, Mishra, who bid adieu to all forms of cricket last year in September, returns to the franchise with which he kicked off his IPL journey in the inaugural edition in 2008. At Delhi Capitals, he is set to link up with a distinguished group of former cricketers – Sourav Ganguly (Head coach), Yuvraj Singh (Assistant coach), and Chaminda Vaas (Fast bowling coach).
More noticeably, he carries an enormous amount of experience, having played 162 IPL matches across 16 seasons, with his last appearance in the tournament coming in 2024 for LSG. He finished his IPL career with 174 wickets that also boast a five-wicket haul (5-17).
He represented India in 68 international matches across all formats, featuring in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is. In his international career, 76 Test wickets, 64 ODI wickets and 16 scalps in T20Is. Mishra also holds a sensational record in the tournament’s history, as he is the only player to have collected three hat-tricks, registering them for different franchises – Delhi Daredevils in 2008, Deccan Chargers in 2011 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013.
