There was no mention of Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli when former India batter Ajinkya Rahane revealed his dream Indian Test team. Rahane’s XI included a few notable names with whom he shared the dressing room during his international and domestic cricket career.

However, the selection did not include modern-day greats Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Rahane gave the captaincy and wicketkeeping duties to MS Dhoni, highlighting Dhoni’s special place in his career as the first captain he played under in international cricket. Rahane's opening combination had Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan.

At No. 3, he picked Rahul Dravid and placed Sachin Tendulkar in the crucial fourth position. Rahane put himself at No. 5 and assigned Dhoni the sixth spot in the batting order. The lower middle order features Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. And for the pace department, Rahane selected Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma.

Rahane’s all-time India Test XI: Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni (c&wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma
