Known for his sound batting technique, ability to clear the boundary at will and his athleticism on the field, Apoorv Wankhade is a volatile lower middle order batsman who can also bowl a bit of medium pace. Being a part of Mumbai Indians for three years in the cash rich league, Wankhade didn't really get a chance to feature in any of the IPL matches. Apparently, his consistency and recent form in India's domestic circuit helped Apoorv Wankhade catch the attention of Kolkata Knight Riders and he was picked up at the IPL player auction 2018 for his base price. Vidarbha were the crowned champions of Ranji Trophy 2017-18 and Wankhade's most significant knock in the tournament came against Kerala where he scored 107 (his only century in Ranji Trophy, 2017-18). However, Wankhade celebrated his selection by KKR with a stylish century during Irani Cup, 2018. Wankhade's prolific knock of 157* consisted of 16 boundaries and 6 impressive sixes as Vidarbha notched up a mammoth score of 800 against Rest of India and won the cup courtesy of a huge first innings lead.
