About Ben McDermott

Ben McDermott is the son of Australian fast bowling great Craig McDermott and younger brother of Alister McDermott. Unlike those two who were bowlers, Ben decided to take a different path. He took that call at a very young age. Ben McDermott is a top-order right-handed batsman and a part-time wicketkeeper.

He gained a rookie contract with Queensland Bulls in 2013 and was part of the Brisbane Heat in 2013-14 BBL and made his debut against Adelaide Strikers. The then 19-year-old batsman had a good outing scoring 30, but that was the only match he took part in the season. Immediately after the T20 tournament, McDermott was picked as the wicketkeeper for the under-19 World Cup that was held in UAE. He was an integral member of the junior Australian team which finished fourth in the competition.
