WCL 2025: High‑profile India vs Pakistan semi‑final called off

The semi‑final of the World Championship of Legends 2025 between India Champions and Pakistan Champions has been officially called off, with India withdrawing from the fixture. As a result, Pakistan have advanced to the final of the tournament. Earlier this month, a group match between arch-rivals was also called off after Indian players pulled out of the match. 

“At WCL, we have always believed in the power of sport to inspire and bring about positive change in the world. However, public sentiment must always be respected - after all, everything we do is for our audience. We respect the India Champions' decision to withdraw from the semi-finals, and we equally respect the Pakistan Champions' readiness to compete. Taking all factors into consideration, the match between the India Champions and the Pakistan Champions has been called off. As a result, Pakistan Champions will advance to the final," The statement from WCL read.

Several high-profile former Indian cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan, had withdrawn from the semi-final and expressed their refusal tp play citing escalating geopolitical tensions following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
