Maxwell returns, Mahli Beardman in line for international debut as Australia make host of changes

Glenn Maxwell is set to resume his international duties, making a comeback in the final three T20Is of the five-match series against India. Maxwell is returning from a wrist injury which he picked up during a net session ahead of the New Zealand series.
At the same time, Australia have handed a golden opportunity to Mahli Beardman, who has been named in the T20 squad. He will join the side for the back end of the series against India and is in line to make his international debut. Meanwhile, three prominent players — Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott have been earmarked for extended runs in the domestic red-ball competition, the Sheffield Shield.
Labuschagne, a reliable Test top-order batter, has been released from the ODI squad ahead of the final ODI match against India so that he can focus on Shield cricket and build his case for the home Ashes series. Hazlewood and Abbott will feature in Shield matches before the Ashes, with Hazlewood playing only the first two T20Is and Abbott departing after match 3 in the India series.
Jack Edwards has been brought into the ODI side for the third match at the SCG on Saturday. Matt Kuhnemann, who played in the first ODI against India in Perth in place of Adam Zampa, has been recalled to the squad for the third ODI. Josh Phillips has been added to the T20I squad for the five-match series against India.
