In a massive development, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed incumbent Test captain Shan Masood as its Consultant for International Cricket and Player Affairs. The appointment marks an unprecedented step in Pakistan’s cricket administration, as it brings an active international cricketer into a senior administrative and advisory role.

“Shan has also captained Pakistan in 14 Tests, including the recently concluded two-match ICC World Test Championship series against South Africa," PCB said in a statement on Friday.

“Under his leadership, Pakistan defeated England 2-1 last year, their first Test series win against England on home soil since 2005."

However, PCB has not clarified whether Shan Masood will continue as Pakistan’s Test captain or step down from the role to focus on his administrative responsibilities. Shan Masood recently led Pakistan in the two-match Test series against South Africa, guiding them to a 1-1 draw.
