Veteran Zimbabwe cricketer Sean Williams will no longer be considered for selection by Zimbabwe Cricket. The batter's future in international cricket is effectively over following revelations of drug addictions and his voluntary entry into rehabilitation. The all-rounder pulled out of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2025 on the eve of the tournament in Harare.

"During an internal investigation to understand the reasons for his unavailability, Williams disclosed that he has been struggling with drug addiction and has voluntarily entered rehabilitation," Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement.

"ZC expects all contracted players to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and compliance with team protocols and anti-doping regulations."

"A review of Williams’ record indicates a history of disciplinary issues and repeated unavailability, which has impacted team preparations and performance."

Since making his international debut in 2005, Williams has featured for Zimbabwe across all three formats, having played 24 Tests, 164 ODIs and 85 T20Is.
