Mumbai Indians secure Shardul Thakur in pre-IPL 2026 trade

In a massive deal, the Mumbai Indians have acquired all-rounder Shardul Thakur in a trade from the Lucknow Super Giants. The deal was confirmed by the league on Thursday. Thakur was traded for his existing fee of INR 2 crore – the amount he was signed at by Lucknow in the previous season. 

In the 2025 season, representing Lucknow, Thakur played 10 matches and took 13 wickets, with an economy of 11.02. Overall, Thakur has played 105 matches in IPL and taken 107 wickets at an average of 30.31 and an economy of 9.4. He has also been useful with the bat, scoring 325 runs in 42 innings at a strike rate of 139.48
