Ireland women’s all-rounder Arlene Kelly has brought the curtain down on her international career, announcing her retirement while Ireland’s third ODI against England Women was underway in Worcester on Sunday. Since making her debut in June 2022, she represented Ireland 110 times, playing 71 T20Is and 39 ODIs.

She had collected 136 international wickets, putting her third among Ireland Women’s leading wicket-takers, behind Isobel Joyce and Laura Delany. The most notable achievement in her career came in 2023 during a T20I against the Netherlands, where she bowled an outstanding spell, claiming the figures of 5 for 12. She was also very instrumental with the bat, 603 runs.

“It’s been an absolute privilege to represent Ireland over the past four-and-a-half years and I’ve been fortunate enough to make so many amazing memories both on and off the field. However, the time feels right to hang up the boots and head back to New Zealand to be around my family and friends,” Arlene Kelly said.

She also captained the side in 2025 after regular captains Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast were unavailable.
