England name 12-man squad for first Ashes Test, Mark Wood included

England have announced a 12-man squad for the opening Test of the highly anticipated Ashes series, with fast bowler Mark Wood earning a place in the group. Wood's inclusion in the squad has raised hopes for an all-pace attack from England. Wood has been included in the squad after being cleared to play following a tight hamstring on day one of England's only warm-up against the Lions last week.
Spinner Shoaib Bashir has been preferred over all-rounder Will Jacks. But it only remains to be seen whether he will play or not because with Brydon Carse there is a high probability for a complete all-seam attack.
Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Mark Wood and Brydon Carse may form the formidable fast-bowling attack. Ollie Pope has been included in the squad, being preferred over Jacob Bethell.
