Gill set to return for South Africa T20Is, Gambhir confirms
India will receive a major boost at the top of the order as Shubman Gill is set to return to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, beginning Tuesday. Head coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed Gill’s availability. Gill had been sidelined after suffering a neck injury last month during the Kolkata Test. The injury took place while he was batting, ruling him out of the remainder of the Test series and the subsequent ODIs.
"Yes, Shubman is ready to start. That's why he has been selected. And obviously he is fit and fine, hungry to go."
In his absence, Rishabh Pant led India during the Test assignment. And for the ODIs, India promoted Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma, filling the void left by Gill.
