Sourav Ganguly questions Shami's continued absence from team India

Despite being out of the current Indian setup, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami continues to deliver impressive performances, reminding selectors time and again about his brilliance with the ball. The veteran pacer, representing Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), has performed superbly, producing a remarkable run of form and triggering the debate surrounding his omission from national selection.
Shami was last seen for India during the Champions Trophy earlier this year; however, since then, he has been on the sidelines. Meanwhile, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has raised questions on Shami's continued absence from the side despite remaining in red-hot form.
“I’m sure the selectors are watching. I’m sure there is communication between Mohammed Shami and the selectors; I don’t know. But if you ask me, in terms of fitness and skills, it’s the Mohammed Shami we know of. So I really don’t see any reason why can’t he keep playing Test matches and one-day and T20 cricket for India because the skill is enormous,” Ganguly said during an event.
Shami’s latest eye-catching performance was against Haryana, where he returned with the figures of 4 for 30 from four overs. Notably, Shami has been consistently among the wickets in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and now the SMAT, underscoring his efficiency with the ball.
