Bhutan’s Sonam Yeshey shatters records with historic eight-wicket haul

Bhutan's left-arm spinner Sonam Yeshey delivered an eye-catching performance, etching his name into record books with a performance never before seen in T20 cricket.
The 22-year-old produced a memorable spell in the third T20I against Myanmar in Gelephu, becoming the first bowler—across international and domestic T20s—to take eight wickets in a single match. Yeshey’s figures of 8 for 7 from four overs dismantled Myanmar’s batting line-up.
Chasing Bhutan’s modest total of 127 for 9, Myanmar were bowled out for just 45. Prior to Yeshey’s record, the best figures in men’s T20 internationals were seven-wicket hauls, achieved only twice - Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus against China in 2023 and Bahrain’s Ali Dawood against Bhutan earlier this year.
