With the T20 World Cup 2026 approaching fast, there is huge uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation in the global event as a growing standoff between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) remains unresolved. BCB recently made a request to relocate Bangladesh’s scheduled matches away from India, citing concerns over player security. However, the ICC has so far been unwilling to approve.

Bangladesh captain Litton Das recently declined to comment on the controversy. He was asked about the team’s position and the broader implications of the dispute, but he stated that it was “not safe” for him to address the matter.

"No comments. Are you sure we're going to the World Cup? You don't know, I don't know; we're on the same page. The World Cup is still a long way away. We're not even sure yet whether we'll go to the World Cup at all," Das said at the press conference.

"No (consent was not taken). I don't know, but there has been no communication with me. Many things in life are not ideal, but you have to accept them according to the situation," Das said.

However, despite ongoing dialogue, no breakthrough has been achieved. Bangladesh, who have been drawn in Group C alongside England, West Indies, Italy, and Nepal, were scheduled to play their group-stage matches in Mumbai and Kolkata.
