With the deadline nearing for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to declare its final stance on participation in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, there have been developments that have added a new element to the ongoing uncertainty. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly come forward to support Bangladesh’s concerns, communicating their position to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

According to ESPNcricinfo, the PCB has sent an email to the ICC expressing support with the BCB’s decision not to send the team to India to play World Cup matches due to security concerns. They have also copied members of the ICC Board into the communication. Meanwhile, it seems unlikely that ICC will change its stance and tinker with the World Cup schedule.

The ICC has reportedly convened a board meeting scheduled for Wednesday to discuss Bangladesh’s earlier request to relocate their group-stage fixtures to Sri Lanka as an alternative venue. Under the current schedule for the 2026 T20 World Cup, Bangladesh are drawn in Group B and are set to play all three of their group-stage matches in India, split between Kolkata and Mumbai.
