India opener Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to hospital with a stomach infection, casting serious doubt over his availability for the team’s upcoming T20 World Cup fixture against Namibia in Delhi on Thursday. According to a PTI, the left-handed batter has been under medical care for the past two days.

"Abhishek has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to stomach infection. Some tests are being done to ascertain the problem. It is still not clear whether he will be discharged today. But match against Namibia looks doubtful as of now," a BCCI source told PTI.

Notably, the talented opener endured a disappointing start to his tournament campaign, getting dismissed for a first-ball duck in India’s opening match against the United States. There were concerns about his fitness during the USA’s chase in Mumbai when he did not take the field. Nevertheless, the management, according to PTI, is hopeful of having him back on the field for the marquee clash against Pakistan on February 15 in Colombo.
